Hillstone St Lucia Wedding – Brisbane Wedding Photography

Grant and Alison had a beautiful Hillstone St Lucia Wedding with a garden ceremony and reception in the Grand View room.  Grant is a chef at Hillstone so he knows how good the food is at the wedding receptions there!  Alison’s family all visited Australia from the UK for the wedding and they were all having a wonderful time enjoyinsunset under the big mango tree hillstone st lucia weddingg Brisbane’s sunny days.  One year on from Grant and Alison’s Brisbane wedding they will be having another wedding in the UK for all the family and friends that couldn’t make it to this one!

The ceremony was held by celebrant Anne Campbell who actually married Sonia and I, Anne always puts on a great wedding ceremony by getting everyone involved. I have always thought the guests celebrate louder when the couple are announced at Anne’s ceremonies.

For the photography in the afternoon we headed to the University of QLD for a few shots with the beautiful sandstone buildings. Spring is such a beautiful time of year to get married in Brisbane, the weather is almost always amazing. Fortunately for all the guests visiting brisbane it was a magical day, the guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the terrace under the mango tree at Hillstone while Grant and Alison had their photography at UQ.

Brisbane Wedding Photography – Garden ceremony and Landing at Dockside Wedding reception

Scott and Scarlett had a beautiful garden ceremony under a huge tree in the Roma Street parklands. They were blessed with a gorgeous August day, perfect for a garden ceremony. After the ceremony we went to find a couple of locations around Roma St parklands before making our way up to Kangaroo point for an awesome city view.  The sunset down by the landing at Dockside was amazing, winter sunsets are the best!  The reception room at Dockside was looking beautiful as always.

St Stephen’s Cathedral + Moda Portside : Scott + Jessica

Scott Gleeson & Jessica Hulbert Wedding

St Stephen’s Cathedral + Moda Portside – Brisbane Wedding Photography

We have known Jess for a few years now, Jess is a florist in the valley. We met at a QLD Brides wedding expo where we both had a stand for the weekend.

Scott & Jessica were married on the weekend of the G20 summit in Brisbane.  As you would imagine, not too many people ventured into the city that day! Apart from a few of the rolling closures which slowed the wedding cars down a little, the city was as empty as we’ve ever seen it!  Usually St Stephen’s Cathedral Weddings are super busy with lots of people on the streets stopping for a look.

Where the girls got ready on the day had a view all the way up Coronation drive. During the morning shots, the U.S President Obama’s road blockade came and went as he drove right by the apartment which was pretty cool!

Scott and Jess met in 2009 when he came to Brisbane to visit a mutual friend. Jess had been told so much about Scott that when they first met, Jess ran at Scott to give him the biggest hug and nearly knocked him over! They knew as soon as they met that their adventure was just beginning.

Scott had organised for one of his friends to go into their home while we were out for their usual Thursday night dinner and set up candles, the ring and the teddy he gave her for their first Valentine’s Day. He opened the front door and Jess saw an aisle of tea light candles leading into the living room to the coffee table with the teddy and a box. At first Jess didn’t see the box until Scott got down on one knee and asked those 4 big words “Will you Marry Me?”. He said he had a big speech planned but couldn’t get it out between Jess crying and screaming YES!

The funniest moment on the wedding day would have to be during the speeches. Hearing all the different stories and reminiscing all the good times between their amazing family and friends

Jess’ favourite memory of the day was when she got far enough down the aisle at St Stephen’s Cathedral to see the expression on Scott’s face and hold his hand, standing directly in front of him after what felt like the longest walk ever.

Scott and Jess would like to give a massive thank you to all the family and friends for helping them bring their special day to life. With over 18 months of planning, preparation and the handy skills of many family members and their closest friends their special day is one they will remember for years.

What was your experience like having Chris & Sonia from Sterling Studios photograph your wedding?: Chris and Sonia are amazing! From when I first met Chris a few years back at a bridal expo I knew that when we got married I wanted them to capture our special day. I clearly remember what Scott said after we first met with them together. “Ok we just found our photographers, when can we book?” From our first meeting, to the engagement shoot through to the big day everything has been outstanding. They are super talented and we love everything they have created for us. Looking forward to the next chapter in our lives being captured by Chris and Sonia.

Advice for other brides-to-be: Everyone told us this before the big day and I couldn’t agree more. Don’t let the little things stress you out. Start planning early and definitely take some time to yourselves on the day. It’s amazing how fast it goes.

Sirromet Laguna + Barrel Hall : Luke + Monique

Sirromet golden field

Sirromet Laguna and Barrel hall – a beautiful winter wedding

Luke and Monique had a beautiful winter wedding at Sirromet. The ceremony was held by the lake at the Sirromet Laguna and the Reception was in the beautifully ambient Barrel hall.  Everyone was super excited that the wedding was finally here! Luke and Monique were some of the most relaxed people on the wedding day itself. So often with so much planning going in to the event, couples can get caught up in managing it on the day too. Not the case here, they really jumped on and enjoyed the ride!

Kyle and I really enjoyed every minute of Luke and Monique’s special day, you know you are having an awesome time at a wedding when you are laughing while photographing the speeches.  Sirromet really turned it on with a beautiful afternoon, blue skies and golden sunshine.  The dinner was amazing, anyone who has ever eaten at Sirromet can tell you the food there is out of this world and their wedding meals are no different.

Usually on the wedding day it is the bride and groom that have the nerves, but this one was different. Sonia and I were expecting our little girl to arrive the day before the wedding but she didn’t want to be a July baby.  When I set out in the morning to head to the wedding I had Kyle with me and Ben on standby just in case I got a call during the day to make a mad dash to the hospital.  Fortunately, our little girl was very understanding and arrive the day following Luke and Monique’s wedding!

Now it has been a few months since the wedding and Luke and Monique have also found out some amazing news – they too are expecting a little girl of their own!  We are so excited for them, it couldn’t have worked out any better for such a beautiful couple.

Congratulations guys on both the wedding and the new family!

Gabbinbar Homestead Wedding : Scott + Rachel

gabbinbar homestead wedding

Beautiful St Patrick’s Cathedral and Gabbinbar Homestead Wedding

Scott and Rachel were married in St Patrick’s Cathedral in Toowoomba with the reception following at Gabbinbar homestead in December.  We always  love a Gabbinbar homestead wedding, it is definitely one of our favourite Toowoomba venues. Sonia and I both love the drive to Toowoomba, the countryside is so beautiful and makes a great break from Brisbane.

The girls were all having a great time in the morning, we met them over at Gabbinbar before heading over to the Cathedral for the wedding. After the ceremony we headed over to town hall quickly for a couple of shots before making our way back to Gabbinbar homestead for the reception.  The reception room looked amazing during the day and is mind blowing when it’s all lit up by candles at night! It is just such a unique space for a lovely dinner.

This was our last wedding for the year and what a truly awesome finish it was!  Thank you Scott and Rachel for such a great finale to the year.
